There will be a personal guide with brochures and historical information of the area, time to eat, rest, and shop. We have old churches, historic cemeteries, an artist colony, gardens, agricultural equipment to inspect, several U-Pick sites including strawberries, blueberries, and of course seasonal peaches, apples, and pecans.

Menus of Lunch will be provided in advance. There is possible catering of Southern Cuisine, or dining at a fine restaurant in Ridge Spring. There will be public restrooms, and time to explore the unique shops of Ridge Spring, which are all in walking distance of the parking lot on the Town Square.

The quaint village of Ridge Spring and surrounding area is the homeplace of several talented artists and fine craftsmen. Enjoy meandering through the quiet town and take pleasure in the original works of our talented residents.

Our small Ridge Spring shops, the library and our local restaurant all showcase the creative endeavors of our local artists.
The tour will begin with a visit to the pecan orchard. Return to the processing area and view the equipment used to shake, sort, crack, shell and produce the pecan with a cooking lesson on the side. Visit two beautiful historic churches, tour historic sites, the artists and artisans in residence working, and businesses related to agriculture of the Ridge. If in December, tour one of local Christmas Tree Farms. Dine at Juniper Restaurant where the menu will include produce of the Ridge Spring area with time a stroll down Main Street to visit the unique shops and to walk off a little of the great meal. Then to the Padgett Mill Pond and Grist Mill, which is being restored, and view the gardens that include over 100 varieties of camellias.
Monetta, in the 1940’s was known as the asparagus capital of the state. You will: Visit Fallaw Farms where the same family has been growing asparagus commercially since 1912. You will have the opportunity to visit the fields and packing shed and even take part in the harvest. Within a mile, visit Watsonia where the Watson family operates a peach processing facility. The smell of peaches is everywhere.

The chef at Juniper in Ridge Spring will be preparing fresh asparagus and other local foods for you. While you’re walking off that great meal you will be able to visit the many turn of the century shops located within walking distance of your bus.

Next visit Padgett Mill Pond which was listed on the 1825 Mill’s Atlas. The mill is located at the head waters of Cloud’s Creek where you will discover a 200 year old grist mill site. The mill house has been rebuilt by owner Gene Barry who has also added a log cabin that overlooks the dam. Also on site is over 100 varieties of camellias.
